Our social initiative is a volunteer-run support network and does not replace official emergency dispatch centers, the police, fire departments, hospitals, or the Jugendamt.

In any immediate life-threatening situation, severe accident, fire, or active violence — dial 112 or 110 immediately. We cannot guarantee 24/7 availability or instant resolution for every case.

What to Say During an Emergency Call

Be prepared to answer the 5 Ws clearly and calmly:

1. Where? City, street, house number, floor, doorbell name.
2. What? Brief description of the incident.
3. Who? Number of people involved and categories (children, elderly).
4. Condition? Consciousness, breathing, injuries.
5. Wait? Do not hang up until the dispatcher tells you to.

Immediate Child Protection Report

If a child is in immediate danger, neglected, or exposed to violence, contact the Police (110) or Ambulance (112) immediately. For non-urgent welfare checks, contact the local Jugendamt (Youth Welfare Office). You do not need to be a relative to report a genuine safety concern.

Youth Hotline (Nummer gegen Kummer)

Homelessness, Food Shortages & Utility Emergencies

Risk of Eviction or No Shelter Tonight

  • Contact your municipal Ordnungsamt or city administration immediately.
  • Outside business hours, contact the police at 110 if you have nowhere safe to stay with children.
  • Notify your Jobcenter case worker in writing immediately upon receiving an eviction notice. Do not wait.
  • Keep copies of your lease, notices, and communications.

Food Shortages & Basic Supplies

  • Contact the Jobcenter or Sozialamt if benefits payments were delayed.
  • Reach out to local food banks (Tafel), Caritas, or Diakonie for emergency provisions.
  • Bring identification, your Anmeldung certificate, and bank statements when visiting aid offices.

Utility Failures, Gas Leaks & Lost Documents

  • Gas Smell: Do not use light switches or open flames. Evacuate the building immediately and call 112.
  • Heating/Water Outage: Document the issue with photos, notify your landlord or property management in writing immediately.
  • Arzberg Water Hotline: For municipal water supply and pipe bursts in Arzberg: 09233 404-40.
  • Lost Documents: File a police report if stolen, block bank cards immediately, and contact the immigration office for residence permits.
