OUR STORY & MISSION

How ZusammenLeben Began

Bridging professional real estate expertise with genuine human responsibility to support Ukrainian families building a new life in Northern Bavaria.

Core Philosophy: We believe that business operations can and should generate profound social value. A property is an asset, but it can also become a safe home for a family forced to leave everything behind.

The Origin of Our Initiative

From Direct Reality to Action

Personal Commitment

The Turning Point: Behind the ZusammenLeben initiative lies a personal story born from a direct encounter with the reality created by the war in Ukraine.

Ben Shamir, a real estate entrepreneur operating in Northern Bavaria for years, was exposed at the very beginning of the conflict to families arriving in Germany with almost nothing—some lacking permanent housing, proper clothing, basic equipment, and sometimes even sufficient food.

First-Hand Witness

During the initial period, visits to reception centers and camps housing thousands of refugees made it clear that the need was immediate, urgent, and deeply human.

The Clear Decision

Faced with people required to start over in a foreign country without language, local system knowledge, or a support network, a clear decision was made: utilize our existing resources to help.

Utilizing Infrastructure: Company-owned apartments originally intended for real estate operations gradually began serving Ukrainian community families. Today, about 90% of the apartments within our activity framework are dedicated to assisting families and community members across Northern Bavaria.

More Than Just a Key

The Comprehensive Support Framework

We quickly realized that an apartment alone is not enough. A family receiving a set of keys still has to navigate authorities, documents, a new language, school registrations, furniture, food, employment, and daily life integration.

Consequently, our activities gradually expanded into a comprehensive assistance network. Depending on necessity and capability, we assist with:

Urgent & Basic Needs

Emergency food purchasing, supplying furniture, and providing essential apartment equipment.

Administrative Aid

Assisting with address registration, Jobcenter accompaniments, document translation, and letter comprehension.

Integration & Future

Connecting children to schools and kindergartens, German language courses, and professional career guidance.

Continuous Support: Personal accompaniment continues long after the family enters their new apartment, maintaining deep community bonds.

Business Impact & Cooperation with Authorities

Business with Social Outcome

We are thrilled to see how business operations can yield not only financial results, but true social impact. Professional connections turn into job opportunities, local authority familiarity streamlines complex paths, and a single conversation helps a parent enroll their child in school.

This integration of business execution and social responsibility is a central pillar of our path, viewing social activity as a natural continuation of our infrastructure and long-standing experience in Northern Bavaria.

Working with German Authorities

It is crucial for us to state clearly: the German authorities we work with are a vital part of our ability to help families. We meet professionals at Jobcenters, municipalities, immigration offices, schools, and welfare departments doing complex, dedicated work.

While the system is not always fast or simple, behind it are people striving to assist families. Our activity does not replace authorities; rather, we work alongside them, ensuring families understand procedures and bridge their needs with German municipal offerings.

A Small Cog in a Greater Action

We know we are just a small cog in a massive network of people, authorities, volunteers, and organizations working for families from Ukraine. We cannot solve every problem or reach every family, but we can do our part.

Whether it is providing an apartment, organizing food, connecting with a professional, or translating a document—every action changes an entire period in someone's life.

Come Be Part of ZusammenLeben

We invite property owners, business owners, professionals, translators, employers, volunteers, and Northern Bavaria residents to join our initiative. You can help by offering apartments, donating furniture, translating, driving, or mentoring.

Not everyone can do everything, but everyone can do something. And together, we can create a real change.

ZUSAMMENLEBEN
